1. What made you want to be a part of MMAZM?

The opportunity to be part of the Zalora family and try my hand at modeling abroad with Zalora was too tempting to pass up! I’m a big believer in taking chances on things when they presents themselves so with everything to gain and nothing to lose, why not? Plus this particular opportunity was just perfect. I always shop with Zalora and even have my own Brand Ambassador code. Being a Zalora model would be a dream, the site fearures local brands and I’m big patron of our homegrown talents. I’ve even modeled for some brands you now carry so it’s very close to my heart.

2. Name three of your favourite models. Why do you look to them for inspiration?

Cecilia Gomez, Wallis Day, and Anna Grostina. I love models who express themselves in their social media accounts, not all their photos being perfectly curated photos. I love their professional work and the energy they bring to photos. Plus Anna is living the life I wish I had when I was a teenager and Cecilia and Wallis both recently started rocking short hair like it’s nobody’s business.

3. What makes you unique?

My cats think I’m great. Id like to think I bring a silliness to sets. As a model, I’m proud of my heritage as a full Filipina woman. I love my skin tone, my dark brown eyes, my Asian hair that, yeah, is frizzy and not Maria Clara combed and in place but why rebound when you can just keep it short so the texture works for you? As an individual, my passions for animals, intersections feminism and mental health are topics I pour over way too much. I think I’ve started boring my social circle at this point. But I can’t help it, I’m passionate about what I’m passionate about.

4. Did you have prior modelling experience before joining MMAZM? If so, do share!

I’ve been working as a freelance model for almost a year now. Well, working is a loose term. I’ve been doing shoots with local photographers, mostly for my own portfolio, sometimes for local brands but nothing that’s gotten me into magazines. Recently I was part of SM Youth’s, a local brand of men’s and teenswear, Go See. Didnt win but it was a fun experience! Out of the thousands of people who joined I got 3rd and I’ll high five myself over that any day. I’ve also been in StyleBible.ph a few times and in August, Status Magazine did a feature on me. But if we’re talking work work work, I do commercials as well.

5. Have your family and friends been supportive of you entering MMAZM?

Oh yeah! My parents are always proud to hear of what I’m doing. I love going to them with huge life updates like this one. As a freelancer and young adult, I find few things make me happier than telling my parents good news of what I’ve been accomplishing. So thanks for making my dad smile Zalora!

6. Who are some of the designers you would love to work with?

Locally? Id love to work with any of our home talent. Because of my look, stylists tend to pick for me quirky outfits, or streetwear. I love it but I don’t want to be limited to just that. When I see dreamy, femme pieces like Rosenthal Tee’s, I can imagine myself in them. Id love to work with all kinds of styling and designers, to support local creative’s and just to challenge myself! Though if we’re talking international, I have to say it’s always been a dream to be a Wang girl. Or Marni.

7. Your favourite things to do in your free time?

Does napping thrice a day count as separate activities? Haha jk but not really. Well, I have three cats and a dog (all adopted, neutered and handsome happy aspin and puspins) so I love spending time just chilling at home with them. I count shoots because I make time for them. Its something I honestly enjoy doing. Its not work, it’s creative expression and it’s an outlet for me to make something beautiful and I’m so happy to be able to do that. Other than that, I while away the rest of my hours reading, writing, and knitting.

1. What made you want to be a part of MMAZM

I’m currently in the middle of a path to building my self-confidence and so wanting to pushing myself out there — out of my comfort zone — made me want to be a part of MMAZM. I figured it wouldn’t be so bad to try something new. It could be a great, fun experience.

2. Name three of your favourite models. Why do you look to them for inspiration?

Ali Micheal. I love her for her peculiarity and strange sense of humour. She’s weird and not afraid to embrace that and that’s something that I look up to — not afraid of being oneself. Lately I’ve also been obsessing over Taylor Lashae for her bubbly personality and confidence, not to mention her style. My third favourite model would have to be Barbie Ferreira for her great self-confidence. She’s my inspiration because she made me learn to accept my body for the way it is and embrace it.

3. What makes you unique?

My seemingly weird sense of humour. Oh, and my two front crooked teeth.

4. Did you have prior modelling experience before joining MMAZM? If so, do share!

I think my first modelling experience was for a friend’s instagram shop back when I was in grade 9 or 10, it was a photo shoot. I was hesitant at first about the idea of modeling because I was very shy but I did it anyway and it turned out to be really fun. My first professional studio shoot was for an online clothing, jewelry catalog called Jakarta Fashion House. I remember having so much fun that I didn’t realise I had spent a whole entire day and night at the studio. Earlier this year I got scouted by an agency in Surabaya called W Models and since then I’ve modeled for test shoots. My first runway walk was last month, I believe, and it was for bridal wear. It wasn’t the easiest walk and I was so nervous at the start (I had to wear a long dress that weighed up to 50 kg, mind you) but after a while it turned out to be quite fun and exciting.

5. Have your family and friends been supportive of you entering MMAZM?

Yes, both my family and friends have been very supportive.

6. Who are some of the designers you would love to work with?

I’d absolutely love to work with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the two designers of Dolce & Gabbana as well as Chanel. I’d also love to work with Lonely Designer, Helene Morris for her lingerie line which I’ve been obsessing over lately.

7. Your favourite things to do in your free time?

I have a huge passion for makeup so I’m always doing my makeup in my free time (why not, right?). I’d draw sometimes, listen to music, watch films or makeup tutorials. Oh, and I’m a sucker for memes so I usually find myself going through my favourite instagram meme accounts in my free time.

Congratulations to the winners of Week 5!
